The Story Behind the Role
Given the focus on both technical specifications and cost-optimized procurement, what are the primary challenges in balancing these demands, and how does the company empower purchasing to achieve this critical equilibrium?
That's a fantastic question, and it really hits the core of what makes this role so impactful. As an insider, I can tell you that the key lies in our truly collaborative environment. You're not just handed a spec and told to find the cheapest option. Instead, you're deeply embedded with engineering and project management from the start. We empower our purchasing team to challenge assumptions, explore innovative solutions, and really understand the technical 'why' behind every requirement. This open dialogue, combined with our short decision paths, allows for agile adjustments, ensuring we secure components that are not only cost-effective but also perfectly align with Remmert's high-quality standards and long-term vision. It's about smart, strategic sourcing, not just transactional buying.
Remmert is a long-standing, family-run company. How does the organization approach innovation and digitalization, particularly in procurement, while maintaining its strong traditional values and collaborative spirit?
It's true, we have a proud history dating back to 1945, and our family values are deeply ingrained. However, that doesn't mean we're resistant to progress – quite the opposite! We see our heritage as a foundation for intelligent evolution. In procurement, for example, we're actively exploring and implementing digital tools for supplier evaluation and process optimization. The 'how' is what's unique: we involve our teams directly in these initiatives. It's not top-down; it's a collaborative effort to identify technologies that genuinely enhance our efficiency and decision-making, rather than just changing for the sake of it. We leverage our close-knit culture to ensure new solutions integrate smoothly and genuinely support our people, rather than alienating them. It's about smart, sustainable innovation that strengthens our core rather than disrupting it.
Beyond the attractive benefits listed, how does Remmert foster a sense of long-term belonging and professional well-being for its employees?
That's a crucial aspect of our family-driven philosophy. We truly believe in investing in our people for the long haul. It goes beyond the fantastic benefits like profit sharing or flexible work; it's about the daily interactions and opportunities. We emphasize 'Kommunikation auf Augenhöhe' (communication at eye level) and 'kurze Entscheidungswege' (short decision paths), which means everyone's voice is heard and valued. We have a robust system for 'Entwicklungsperspektiven' (development perspectives) through regular check-ins and a comprehensive training catalog, ensuring you're always growing. Plus, our regular employee events—from summer outings to Christmas parties, often involving families—reinforce that strong community bond. It's about creating an environment where you feel supported, challenged, and genuinely part of the Remmert family, making it a place where people want to stay and build their careers.
